Trading Myths Exposed: Why You Are Overpaying for Spirit Fruit

Let’s be real for a second. You’ve probably been in the Café or the Mansion recently, watching people spam the chat: “TRADING SPIRIT FOR KITSUNE + ADDS” or “PLS SPIRIT FOR PERM BUDDHA.”

If you are reading this, you might be thinking about trading for the Spirit Fruit yourself. Maybe you think it’s your ticket to becoming a PVP god, or maybe you just like how the spirits look floating around you. But here is the harsh truth that many “pros” won’t tell you: You are likely about to overpay massively.

As of January 2026, the trading market in Blox Fruits has shifted. With the recent hype around the new Yeti and Gas fruits, and the insane value of the reworked Dragon forms, Spirit has landed in a weird spot. It’s a Mythical fruit, yes, but it’s surrounded by myths that drain your inventory.

Let’s debunk the 3 biggest myths causing you to lose value in trades.

Myth #1: “It’s a Mythical, so it must be S-Tier for Grinding”

This is the number one trap for players in the Second Sea. You see the “Mythical” tag, you see the flashy moves, and you assume it’s going to help you grind levels faster than your boring Light or Buddha.

The Reality: Spirit is actually a nightmare for grinding.

Why? Two words: Knockback and Chaos.
Most of Spirit’s moves pushes enemies away from you. If you are trying to group up NPCs to farm them efficiently, Spirit ruins your stack. You spend more time chasing the NPCs you just blasted across the map than actually killing them.

Also, the “spirits” mechanic (the little demon and angel following you) is inconsistent for farming. You can’t control exactly which buff you get in the heat of the moment. Compare this to Buddha, which is a Legendary (lower rarity), but lets you click-spam enemies to death without thinking.

Don’t trade your Buddha for Spirit expecting to level up faster. You are literally trading a Ferrari for a bicycle with a flat tire when it comes to grinding efficiency.

Myth #2: “Spirit is Worth the Same as Dough or Leopard”

This is where the “Overpaying” part of the title really kicks in. Because Spirit is an older Mythical, players who have held onto it for a long time try to inflate its value. They will try to convince you that Spirit is equal to a Dough or even close to a Leopard.

The Reality: The demand for Spirit has dropped significantly in 2026.

According to the current trade values this month, Spirit sits in a “mid-tier” Mythical spot.

  • Dough has massive demand because of its Awakening and stun potential.
  • Leopard is still a spam-heavy PVP beast.
  • Spirit? It has a demand rating of about 6/10.

If you are trading your Dough for Spirit 1:1, you are taking a loss (an “L” trade). A fair trade for Spirit right now is closer to something like Venom + small adds or Control + adds. If someone asks you for your Dough or T-Rex for their Spirit alone, just walk away. They are trying to profit off your lack of knowledge.

Myth #3: “Spirit Carries You in PVP”

You’ve seen YouTube compilations of Spirit users one-shotting people with crazy combos. It looks unstoppable. So you trade your best fruits for it, eat it, head to the arena… and get destroyed.

The Reality: Spirit has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game.

Unlike Kitsune or the new Dragon forms, where you can sort of mash buttons and still do damage, Spirit requires you to be a mathematician. You need to manage your anger/calm meters, predict enemy movement for your C and V moves (which are hard to land), and switch between buffs constantly.

If you miss your stun move (the “Endless Deep”), you are wide open. In the current meta, where mobility is king (thanks to Portal and Kitsune users running around), missing that move means you are dead.

The Verdict: Unless you are already amazing at the game’s movement mechanics, buying Spirit won’t make you better. It will just make you a flashy target.

So, Should You Even Get Spirit?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Spirit is trash. It’s a fun fruit. The visual effects are top-tier, and if you do master it, you can be very annoying to fight against.

But the point of this article is to save your inventory.

  • Do not trade your main grinding fruit (Buddha/Magma) for it if you aren’t max level yet.
  • Do not give up high-demand fruits like Dough or T-Rex for it unless they add something good.
  • Do not believe the hype that it’s “getting a rework soon.” That rumor has been around since 2024. Until the devs post a leak, don’t pay extra for speculation.

Trade smart, keep your value up, and let someone else overpay for the shiny ghosts.

See you in the Third Sea!
